This living room, although located in a lovely antique home, felt a bit drab and cold. The room lacked color and furniture was arranged against the wall, using only part of the room. Artwork was sparse and unrelated. The rug was dark and uninviting. The homeowner wanted something pulled-together and warm.
We arranged the furniture on an angle, to take advantage of the room's full layout and replaced the dark area rug with a gorgeous, richly colored one. To warm up the walls and add interest, we added artwork from other rooms. Lighting was also positioned to enhance the warmth of the space. To complete the redesign, we added splashes of color with a few carefully placed accessories.
We arranged the furniture to create a cozy conversation area. We infused the room with color with an oriental rug from the dining room. Lamps add a warm glow and more color. A themed wall arrangement was created by combining a collection of lighthouse prints with a beautiful antique mirror. Artful placement of accessories pulls the look together. The client was "really blown away to see how 'finished' the room finally looks."
After years of living this way, the client was ready for a room that felt inviting, cozy and finished. The space needed lots of color and a more intimate furniture arrangement.
The furniture arrangement and window treatments didn't really take advantage of the lovely bay window or show off period details in this Victorian home.
Now the bay window is a dramatic focal point! Simple no-sew window treatments add color and soften the windows, without hiding the lovely bulls-eye moldings. Furniture and lamps are arranged to draw the eye to the area and add height and interest. The result? According to the client, it's "a wonderful, inexpensive solution to a problem that’s been bugging me for years."
This fireplace mantle was cluttered and inelegant—with no real focal point.
The adjacent wall and seating area was bare and uninviting.
Sometimes small changes can have a big impact! We removed the unrelated and undersized items on the mantle and gathered a collection of the homeowner’s antique Nantucket baskets and boxes together for a clean and elegant look. On the wall, we brought together a pair of much-loved sketches done by the homeowner’s grandfather— which had previously been hung in separate rooms. The result is a lovely and sentimental focal point—and a cozy fireside reading spot.
All the rooms on this page were dramatically transformed in a matter of hours using only the homeowners' existing furnishings, artwork and accessories. Stop struggling with your space--call today and let us show you how we can take your rooms from
plain to polished, too!
"I'd sum up the redesign experience in one word… Fun!
And I was blown away by the result—I absolutely love it!"

The client never spent time in this room. The furniture was too dark and heavy for the space. The bookcase was so cluttered that nothing on it stood out. She struggled with it for about a year! She wanted a warm comfortable room she could relax in—reading or having a glass of wine with friends.
Out goes the heavy leather loveseat—replaced by comfy rattan chairs, to create an inviting conversation area. The bookcase was cleaned out and rearranged so treasured pieces and photos become focal points. Pillows and plants add warmth. The client raves:"You accomplished in one day, what I tried desperately to do in a year!"
